There are three different classes of acoustic guitar amp transducers commonly utilised to produce an electrical signal from an acoustic guitar. Microphones modify the actual sound produced by the helper into an electrical signal. Soundhole (Electromagnetic) Pickups modify the motion of the section above the soundhole into an electrical signal. Contact Pickups modify the vibration of some part of the guitars body into an electrical signal. We treat apiece class separately here; there are various types within apiece class. Each class has its strengths and weaknesses, and many professionals find it necessary to use two classes of pickups to produce a satisfactory sound. Some modify use all three classes.
